Untitled documentMetering Valve - Needed For 4 Wheel Drum Hot Rods - Brass: Our brass metering valve greatly improves the drivability and safety of all 4 wheel drum vehicles. As in all modern brake systems, the metering valve creates a split second delay on the front brakes thus allowing the rear brakes to be applied first, straightening the car. Your vehicle will track straighter during hard stops and have reduced front end dive. 3/8" inverted flare ports, 1 in, 2 out. You can use 1 out, 1 residual and Tee to split or use both outs and add 2 residual valves, 1 left front, and 1 right front.
To improve the drums reaction time add the 10 lb. residual valves to your system. These valves will hold 10 lbs. of pressure against the bendix springs, just shy of deploying the shoes. The shoes react much quicker and your pedal travel is greatly reduced.
If your pedal is under the floor you will need to install these valves to keep the fluid from draining back out of your wheel cylinders and into your master cylinder. This scenario can VERY dangerous. If running front discs and rear drums with an under floor pedal use a 2# residual for the front and 10# for the rear. Each circuit, front and rear, needs 1 valve. Install between the metering valve and drums in the front circuit.
